JOB DESCRIPTION & SPECIFICATION

JOB TITLE:  President/CEO  
DEPARTMENT:  Administration
REPORTS TO (TITLE): AMH Board
Primary objective of the job:
  The President/CEO is responsible for the overall day to day hospital operations; as well as the strategic leadership, direction, development, planning, control and coordination of activities within patient care, clinical support, and corresponding support service areas.
Number of persons managed/supervised and their position:
Operations; Chief Financial Officer, Human Resource Director; Director of Nursing Services; Chief Medical Officer; Chaplaincy; Marketing & PR Officer
Main Duties and Responsibilities: (maximum of 10 duties)
Board Relationship: Assist to identify potential Board Members Provides accurate information/reports to the Board to facilitate decision making Recommends strategic policies in association with Government legislation Planning: Develops strategies and organizational plans to meet the needs of the hospital Establishes structured accountabilities of Administrative staff and ensures that the measurements are reviewed at least once per year Reviews and recommends compensation and benefits for staff at all levels Health Care Administration: Promotes the cost-effective delivery of patient care consistent with the acceptable level medical standards Facilitates an environment of effective practice of medicine by physicians and members of the medical staff Consult with leaders of the Medical staff concerning patient care needs Promotes the appropriate use and maintenance of the hospital physical resources Ensures that the hospital has a structured risk management programme Compliance: Ensures compliance Government, Medical and other relevant regulatory bodies Participates and make recommendations regarding litigations involving the hospital Leadership:                                                                Provides an atmosphere of Christ centered leadership throughout the hospital Promotes health awareness with the mission of healing the whole man Provides astute financial management to ensure financial viability of the hospital Encourages the integration/presence of the hospital in the community Represents the Board in the community Develops and maintain cooperative relationships with the business community and regional healthcare providers Facilitates an environment of effective practice of medicine by physicians and members of the medical staff Ability to connect on an international level Promotes fundraising by connecting with various philanthropic organizations Attracts, trains, develops, and retains professionals to ensure that the needs of the hospital are met. Ensure synergy between people, processes, and strategies to execute business objectives and goals.
Academic qualifications, experience and skills required for job:
  A Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field; relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.   Experience:  Minimum of three (3) years’ experience of progressive responsibilities in hospital administration or healthcare administration. Five (5) or more years preferred.
