Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, inspecting, implementing, installing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing products, instrumentation, equipment and devices used in healthcare delivery in an innovative and efficient manner. The Biomedical Engineer will also provide technical support, perform inventory assessments and will collaborate with manufacturers and suppliers and assist and train healthcare workers in the use of equipment.
Main duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect medical equipment and instrumentation, including life support equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems.
- Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain documentation on all equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.
- Provide technical assistance and instruction to personnel regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
- Provide mentoring to biomedical equipment technicians.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to understand equipment needs and provide technical support and training on the proper use of medical devices.
- Participate in the evaluation and procurement of new equipment, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and alignment with hospital needs.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules, conducting tests and troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB:
The suitable candidate must be the holder of the following:
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in biomedical engineering, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Strong technical skills with knowledge of medical equipment and healthcare technology.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
