Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for greeting, directing and registering patients for radiology exams. He/She will need to be detailed oriented to review requisitions and receipts and be computer literate to be able to use the computerized radiography unit for data entry and burning CD’s/DVD’s efficiently.

Main duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Greet and direct patients in cheerful and welcoming manner
  • Register x-ray patients in the log book and on the computerized radiography unit. Check the requisition to ensure the exam, clinical history, and all demographic information (name. address, telephone number) are provided.
  • Review the requisition and the receipt to ensure the patient has been charged correctly for the exam (s) ordered. Suggest changes if necessary (i.e. additional payment or refund)
  • Burn CD’s/DVD’s and print labels for U.S. Medical patients in a timely manner using the check off list provided. There should be no more than a 2 business day lag time. Return CD’s/DVD’s to U.S. Medical.
  • Print digital film for Pre-Op patients and others as requested and ensure delivery of same.
  • Archive images on DVD’s and filing or retrieving films.
  • Answer patient questions or concerns or direct patient to correct staff.
  • Answer incoming phone calls courteously. Take phone messages if necessary.
  • Communicate with other members of the healthcare team to expedite patient services. coordinate other patient services.
  • Assist radiographers in requesting porters for patient transport.
  • File and maintain x-ray requisitions forms that do not require a report (i.e. Orthopedic)
  • Order and maintain adequate supplies (CD’s, DVD’s, labels).
  • Report all technical and non-technical issues to a radiographer and/or Supervisor if necessary.
  • File CD/DVD
  • Receive deliveries
  • Perform other duties as requested following Radiology and hospital standards.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB:

The suitable candidate must be the holder of the following:

  • Must be a High School graduate or equivalent with at least 5 CSEC/CXC Subjects.
  • HEART NSTA Training/ Diploma an Asset
  • Administrative/Office Clerical Experience

ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Duties are typically performed while sitting for 5-6 hours per day with occasional lifting/carrying required for supplies (-/+20 lbs) and frequent reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing the general surroundings and activities.
