Andrews Memorial Hospital Limited (AMH) entered emergency mode on Friday, October 24, 2025, as Jamaica prepares for the impact of hurricane Melissa, which is expected to intensify over the next few days.
What Emergency Mode Means
Emergency mode means the hospital remains open for critical and emergency care only. All outpatient services and elective surgeries are suspended to allow staff to focus on life-threatening emergencies.
Service Updates
- Outpatient and Accident and Emergency: Emergency management mode began at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, and will remain in effect until further notice.
- Pharmacy: The Pharmacy will be closed to the public on Saturday, October 25, 2025, and Sunday, October 26, 2025. Following an assessment of the storm’s impact and when it is safe to do so, service to the public will resume.
- Cafeteria: The cafeteria will remain closed to the public until further notice.
- US Medical: For your safety, all appointments during the storm are on hold. Clients will be urgently contacted to confirm or reschedule their appointments.
- If your medical appointment is not urgent, please wait for our next update before coming to the hospital.
- For life threatening emergencies, proceed to the Accident and Emergency Department.
- Stay informed through official updates from the Meteorological Service of Jamaica, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), the Ministry of Health and Wellness, and traditional media.
