Job Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has responsibility for the overall hospital system Finance Division including planning, directing and coordinating activities related to financial management and reporting, treasury management, budgetary planning and financial risk management of the Hospital. He/She will manage the financial affairs and seek to maintain the financial viability of the Hospital while ensuring the provision of timely, accurate and reliable information in accordance with accepted accounting standards, operational policies and government regulatory requirements. This position functions within the Executive Administration of the hospital, as the lead on-site financial resource for the hospital, focusing on leading the hospital management team toward meeting the financial goals of the hospital.

Core Functions and Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintains the financial viability of the hospital through sound financial planning, execution of agreed policies and ensuring integrity of pricing structure and hospital rates.
  • Ensures hospital operates an appropriate and effective financial management system supporting adequate internal controls and in accordance with financial reporting requirements, corporate guidelines and Government regulatory requirements.
  • Directs the development and implementation of new systems, policies and procedures as required to ensure the integrity of financial information and effective stewardship of the Hospital’s resources.
  • Responsible for hospital financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, tax compliance, payroll, audit related activities, investment and insurance 
  • Leads the annual budgeting and forecasting process, actively reviews performance and monitor reports, comparing actual and budgetary results and noting changes for Management’s attention and/or action, to satisfy strategic financial objectives.
  • Prepares timely, quarterly financial operating statements with analysis and maintains appropriate accounting management systems to facilitate management accounts and departmental reports with comparative analysis.
  • Coordinates the annual audit, liaises with external auditors and leads effort to ensure successful completion of audit.
  • Provides timely responses to audit findings and arranges meetings to settle audit observations.
  • Manages the accounting effort to complete timely accounting preparation, including journal entry validation, transaction validation and postings, general ledger analyses and update, and reconciliations necessary to prepare the Financial Statements.
  • Ensures the timely reconciliation of bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payables, inventories, related party accounts, fixed assets, payroll and other applicable accounts and ensures they are kept current and posted to general ledger.
  • Manages and oversees related financial activities to include timely insurance claims processing, credit authorization, collections and receipting.
  • Provides leadership and management of all departments and personnel within the Finance Division, monitoring performance outcomes and making any strategic or operational changes to ensure Hospital’s objectives are achieved.
  • Assists in developing new business by analyzing the feasibility of new ventures, including new contracts and advises management of the financial prospects.
  • Manages contractual arrangements with local and overseas clients and the Government.
  • Manages related party transactions and requests for information (local and overseas).
  • Manages the hospital’s sustentation plan and approves/sets salary offers and adjustments and prepares salary budget.
  • Manages the Hospital’s cash flow and monitors the bank accounts on a daily basis, effecting fund transfers when necessary, and authorizing/approving all payments.
  • Performs the daily administrative duties of the function, which includes, attending meetings, the signing of documents and cheques, preparation of reports and letters, evaluation of staff performance and other duties relating to personnel management.
  • Oversees the IT Functions of the Hospital to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the infrastructural support for the Hospital’s smooth operation.
  • Evaluates Hospital’s financial position regularly, performing reviews and analysis of financial performance that aids decision making and meets with Senior Management to discuss and monitor outcomes of organizational objectives and implementation of plans that deliver value to key stakeholders.
  • Prepares, communicates and presents critical financial information to the Executive Leadership Team, the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors as necessary.
  • Performs any other duties that may be required from time to time to support the effective operation of the Finance Function.

Academic qualifications and experience required for job:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • ACCA or CPA Designation.
  • At least seven (7) years’ experience in similar capacity.
  • Supervisory Management certification and experience
  • Proficiency with the Computer (MS Office Suite, and the Internet)
  • Current knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Knowledge of accounting software
  • External audit experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational and written skills.
  • Healthcare Finance experience an asset

Job Summary

Andrews Memorial Hospital pharmacy provides a diverse outlook in the field of pharmacy. We serve the medication needs of both hospitalized (in-patient) and ambulatory (out-patient) patients, as well as the general pharmaceutical stock needs of the entire hospital. As a result, excellent interdepartmental collaboration plays an integral role in our operations. The Pharmacist is responsible for the preparation and verification of all medication orders for both hospitalized and ambulatory patients. This individual also provides counseling and medication advice for both patients and physicians. Also incorporated into this post is a diverse range of compounding and reconstitution of medications, checking of patients’ vitals and other health promotional activities. Paramount to the completion of these tasks is an excellent customer service skill.

Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities

The Pharmacist is required to perform the following:

  • Prepare medicine prescription for clients.
  • Compounding and dispensation of medications following prescriptions issued by appropriate health care professional once the need arises.
  • Assist patients / clients in obtaining drugs not available at this pharmacy.
  • Calculate the cost of medicine.
  • Advise doctors on the appropriate choice of drugs for specific patients.
  • Educate and advise patients / clients on the effective use of medicines and other health products.
  • Disseminate drug information to Doctors, staff and patients / clients to include but not limited to drug interactions, side effect profiles, dosage etc.
  • Keep proper record of medication treatment.
  • Assist in managing the pharmacy inventory and rotates stocks.
  • Assist with the training, orientation, and supervision of pharmacy staff (when needed).
  • Assist with the training of health professionals on the use of pharmaceutical products.
  • Liaise with other health professionals in the community in order to address the needs of patients.
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy students.
  • Attend and participate in seminars and conventions for continuing education.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions of drugs i.e. proper temperature, security etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.

Job Summary

The successful candidates will be responsible for receiving and receipting payments from all patients, customers and staff. He/She will also be responsible for maintaining receipt files and posting receipts where appropriate. This position is production task oriented and must meet daily deadlines.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Receive and receipt all payment for service provided to patients and customers.
  • All items must be accurately priced and posted in the system and all appropriate charges for the various types of services offered accounted for, including bank charges for use of credit cards to make consultant’s payment.
  • Handle general queries from customers and staff regarding prices and give accurate and concise information in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile or balance cash on a daily basis before submission to Cashier Supervisor, clearly and accurately stating any discrepancies.
  • Maintain receipt files
  • Ensure safe custody of all cash collected
  • Record payments received from patients for consultants and submit information to Cashier Supervisor
  • Refer any unresolved issues to Cashier Supervisor, immediately or within 24 hours, so that speedy action can be taken.
  • Comply will all cash receipting and handling policies of the department.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned.

Academic qualifications and experience required for job

  • Associate Degree in Business Studies or related discipline
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar field

Job Summary

The Practical Nurse at Andrews Memorial Hospital participates in providing a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment through basic patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or other licensed healthcare professional. Duties and Responsibilities

1. Patient Care:
a. Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, feeding, and ambulation.
b. Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure) and report abnormalities to the

c. Measure and document intake and output, including food and fluid intake.
d. Assist with bed-making, positioning, and patient transfers.

Job Summary

The incumbent will be required to provide care to patients with various types of illnesses or trauma requiring emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectively treat life-threatening conditions in addition to general Nursing care. ER nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This class of nurses differs from others in that:

For each specialty the nurse must acquire the specific advanced anatomical, psychological and therapeutic knowledge and skills specific to the care of the patient. Calculated, quick decision making is an integral part of the nurse’s function. Work involves the utilization if high technology and is performed in specialized areas  such as the Operating Theatre, Intensive Care Unit, Recovery Room, Emergency Room and Out-Patient Departments, Burn Unit, Etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Academic Qualification and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a professional nurse.
  • Successful completion of the prescribed training course Emergency room Nursing (CEN)
  • Minimum of one (1) year emergency room (ER) nurses experience
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Cognitive skills related to the position

Position Responsibility

ER nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of ER Nurses include (but are not limited to):

  • Collects current symptoms, as well as a detailed history and then consults and coordinates with the health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans
  • Performs triage, while considering both physical and psychosocial elements
  • Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the attending physician is available, based upon nursing standards and protocol
  • Knows the rudiments of and participates in situations requiring advanced cardiac life support measures
  • Initiates corrective action wherever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology
  • Records patients’ current vital signs
  • Works directly under physicians, assisting them during examinations, diagnostic testing and treatments
  • Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, parenterally) and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse
  • Provides IV therapy
  • Cleans and bandages wounds
  • Provide basic bedside care
  • Maintains proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for patients
  • Reports any suspected abuse to the appropriate agencies
  • Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by the physician. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation, as well as provides referrals to other healthcare professionals for follow-up treatment
  • Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner
  • Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms and or books.
